"And the effect of righteousness will be peace"

Vaclav's picture

God is a God of hope, and a God of second and third...chances. In Isaiah 32 the Prophet is giving God's people of Israel another promise of a coming king, and particularly the promise of the fruit in his people that his coming will produce.

More specifically in 32:15-17 -

15 until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is deemed a forest.
16 Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness abide in the fruitful field.
17 And the effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust [security] forever.

A day will come when his Spirit will be poured out on his people, and what is empty, barren and forgotten, will become full and rich with good fruit, so much so, it will be overgrown with good things.

The new rule of justice and righteousness will begin under the rightful king, namely King Jesus. And he has come; and his Spirit has been poured out on all those that believe Jesus Christ to be the Messiah, the anointed one, who lived and died perfectly righteous death in the place of us sinners. Even as the apostle Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:21 - "For our sake he [God] made him [Jesus] to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him [Jesus] we [sinners] might become the righteousness of God." Or Romans 3:22a - "the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe."

The example Paul uses is Abraham - "That is why his faith was "counted to him as righteousness." (Romans 4:22)

And the effect of the righteousness of Christ that we receive only by faith in Jesus, will be peace. Peace with God (Romans 5:1); and the peace from God in our hearts - "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing" (Romans 15:13).

The ultimate result will be quietness, trust, security and assurance - FOREVER.

You said: 'what is empty, barren and forgotten, will become full and rich with good fruit, so much so, it will be overgrown with good things.' Vaclav, i would rather walk through a field of strawberries and trees of oranges, than to walk upon weeds. This is something to look forward to, when the Lord pours out His spirit and I don't want to miss that! ;)

Amazing!
