Self-righteousness and its cure

The root of judging people's motives and intentions come from our Self-righteousness, which we are inclined to by our sinful nature.
And the cure for it is the gospel.
Here's what the Apostle Paul said in Romans 3:22-23, "The righteousness of God [as a gift] is through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe, since there is no distinction. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
There's no distinction Paul says between one person and another because we all have sinned and continue to fall short of the glory and perfection of God.
Only when we realize that God expects and accepts only perfect obedience from us will we cease to establish our own righteousness and accept Christ Jesus as our only righteousness before the holy God.
"In those days [the days of Jesus] Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is what she [the church of the old and new testaments] will be named: The Lord Is Our Righteousness." (Jeremiah 33:16)
All the judging of our sinful hearts will be rooted out because of Jesus and his perfect obedience will be and is credited to those who put their trust in him alone as "The Lord is Our Righteousness".
