Cars with Russian registration and with Russian license plates will be confiscated at customs upon entry into Lithuania. Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country Jovita Neljupshene told reporters about this on September 12 at a press conference, the Lithuanian National Radio and Television reports.
According to Nelyupshene, this rule applies to any cars with Russian registration, regardless of who imports them: a citizen of Russia or another country. The only exception may be the transit of a car to or from the Kaliningrad region. However, in this case, the driver must have a transit visa and a document confirming that the car is moving from Russia and to Russia and will not stay in Lithuania.
The statement was made after the European Commission issued an explanation on September 8, which stated that the import of some things, in particular cars from Russia from 2022 is prohibited.
