Lately I have realized that many times we Christians talk about God, but not to God, he's in our heads, but not in our hearts...crying is a sign of life that the newborn is alive, so is prayer/crying out to God, a sign that we are "born again". My prayer is that we'll get convicted, and inspired to seek the Lord in prayer and meditation on his Word.

As I always say, "The Deader, the better." I love the writings of those that went before us. And Handley Moule is my favorite author of all times. This dear brother does not waste his words, his sentences are like a well packed suitcase. What others say in a chapter, he says in a paragraph. A page of Moule's inspiring thoughts with a prayerful thought of our own will richly reward any disciple of Jesus. Moule is always Christ centered, Biblical, doctrinal and devotional, but above all, he is a devoted disciple and lover of Christ Jesus our Lord.

Robert Murray M'Cheyne (1813-1843), was a Scottish minister of the Gospel. He was a man hungry for God, a man thirsting for holiness with a heart of prayer. A man that had a great influence on people wherever he went, at home and abroad. Certainly a man whose life, faith and teaching is worth imitating. He was greatly used in the revival that broke out in his church at St.Peter's. His heart prayer was - "O Lord, make as holy as a forgiven sinner can be." and, "A Holy man is a mighty weapon in the hands of God." He died at age 29, burned out for God, and never married.

John Trapp was an English puritan Bible commentator. He wrote five volume commentary on the whole Bible and a few treatises on the Christian life.

This treatise "God's love tokens, and The Afflicted man's lessons" has not been reprinted for a long time. For past few weeks I have been reading his comments on the Bible, and receiving much blessing in my morning devotion. So, I have decided to research and find an old copy. The result is this new reprint of the that good old book.

These sermons were preached by George Whitefield at a small Scottish town of Cambuslang in 1742, during the "First Great Evangelical Revival". Hundreds of people came to put their faith in Christ Jesus as a result. George Whitefield was the man that knew God's Word and walked intimately with God, in obedience to his Word, the fruit was vividly obvious.

David Brainerd was a missionary to the Native Americans, from 1743-1747. His diary is an illustrious example of a Christian character, with a "...sincere and pure devotion to Christ". His love for God was seen in his unrelenting devotion to him. God has brought great fruit through his constant dependence on God, in his prayer life and the preaching of the Good News of Jesus Christ to the Native Americans. As a result he has seen remarkable results in hearts turning from sin to the gracious Savior. His missionary work brought him to an early death, at the age of 29.
