Russian President Vladimir Putin showed his North Korean counterpart Kim Jong-un Aurus cars from his motorcade during a visit by the heads of state to the Vostochny cosmodrome, TASS reports.
The head of the DPRK first got acquainted with the limousine of a premium domestic brand. He sat inside the car and also appreciated its appearance. Putin simultaneously told his guest about the main characteristics of the car.
Later, Kim Jong-un was shown a regular Aurus sedan. The head of the DPRK himself arrived at the talks in a personal Maybach limousine, which he brought to Russia by train.
The Aurus model range currently consists of the Senat sedan. It is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 with dual turbocharging. Its power is 598 hp and 880 NM of torque. Together with it, an electric motor is installed, the power of which at its peak is 62 hp. The power plant works in conjunction with a nine-stage automatic.
The company also produces a full-size crossover Aurus Komendant, which is technically identical to the Senat sedan. They share a common modular EMP platform and a power plant consisting of a 4.4-liter V8 engine with a capacity of 598 hp and a nine-speed automatic KATE with a built-in 62-horsepower electric motor. The drive is complete in both cases, but the crossover, unlike the sedan, has an air suspension. It changes stiffness depending on the selected driving mode, and the ground clearance varies in the range from 200 to 260 mm.
Komendant is not officially on sale yet, but the car can already be pre-ordered at car dealerships. The waiting period will be approximately eight months. Preliminary prices range from 33 million to 35 million rubles.
Also, the Aurus model range includes the Aurus Arsenal minivan. It is assembled by the FSUE “US” mainly for the needs of a special Purpose Garage, a division of the Federal Security Service of Russia, which is responsible for the safe movement of the president, Prime Minister, visiting leaders of foreign states. However, next year it is planned to release a small serial batch of Aurus Arsenal minivans. The power plant of the car is similar to that installed on Senat sedans.
In addition to cars, Aurus also intends to produce an electric motorcycle Merlon. It is equipped with a 190-horsepower electric motor, which allows you to accelerate to the first hundred in less than 4 seconds. The maximum speed is 200 km/h. Thanks to a 21 kW battery, the power reserve is 200 km on a single charge.
