When the Northern Understudy of Kutuzovsky Prospekt is opened
Thanks to the new road, motorists will be able to get from Moscow City to the MKAD in 10 minutes without traffic jams. Then it will be possible to continue driving to the Moscow region along the Northern Bypass of Odintsovo or exit on the Moscow Ring Road.
The Northern understudy will unload Kutuzovsky Prospekt and facilitate traffic on Marshal Zhukov Avenue, Mozhaisk and Zvenigorod Highway. More than 700 thousand residents of the districts of Kuntsevo, Mozhaisky, Fili-Davydkovo, Filevsky Park, Dorogomilovo, Presnensky are waiting for the opening of a new road.
Due to the creation of an alternative route from M-1 to Moscow City, the mileage of vehicles will be reduced by 3 km, and the travel time by an average of 17 minutes.
It is expected that the load on Kutuzovsky Prospekt (up to 17%), Mozhaiskoe Highway (up to 16%) and MKAD (up to 9%) will decrease.
The construction is being carried out by JSC “New Concession Company”, which was established in 2013 to implement this project. Work on the highway began in 2018 and is currently 98% complete. It is planned to launch it soon.
In the project “Active citizen” a vote was held on the choice of the name of the new road. More than 121 thousand people took part in it, and 53.12% of them voted in favor of the option “Bagration Avenue”. On August 29, 2023, Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, announced that by the decision of Muscovites, the Northern understudy of Kutuzovsky Prospekt would be called Bagration Avenue.

The starting point of the Northern understudy of Kutuzovsky Prospekt is the business center “Moscow City”. Then he walks over the bridge over the Moskva River. After that, the highway passes through industrial zones. In the Kuntsevo area, Bagration Avenue crosses the MDC-1 railway tracks on an overpass. After the platform «Work Settlement » the highway goes along the Usovskaya branch. It ends near the Molodogvardeyskaya interchange. Here the road flows smoothly into the Northern Bypass of the city of Odintsovo.
Features of the new road
The length of the highway with all exits and structures is more than 20 km, while the main course is about 10 km. The highway does not provide for the presence of traffic lights.
